RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES LOL

Sorry for that subhead about Epstein. The alleged scale and alleged depravity of the Epstein files and alleged links to very powerful people like Trump allegedly is disgusting on every level. Peace, love and healing to their victims. May the entire truth come out and may some measure of justice prevail.
The MAGA division that the whole kerfluffle has caused is quite the sight to see though. Allegedly. Langworthy voted against releasing the Epstein files, which will probably be listed in this stupid timeline with lore like the Zapruder film and a faked moon landing. Call his office and ask why he's protecting a pedophile. Ask his reporters why the Trump administration would hide these crimes against children.

🦄 Inspiration
The Radiant Bubble by Lindsay Hyatt. Just beautiful writing. “In order to get to the other side of something terrible, typically, humans have to go through some things.”
🧟♂️ Nightmare Fuel
When ICE “agents” come to your workplace and rough up that nice coworker with the hard-to-spell last name, what are you going to do?
What are you going to do?

📚 Something to read: Link from last week wasn’t correct. Read this excellent piece from Buffalopundit, circa 2016. The more things have changed about WBEN, the more they’ve stayed the same. Anyone with a D for Democrat next to their name and two working brain cells should abandon WBEN. Its narrow band of hard news is forever sullied by the dark and twisted MAGA agenda.
Thank you, Dorothy: a thoughtful letter to the Buffalo News from a local in Springville.
…We have the freedom to vote but many don't perhaps because they feel ignored or in fear of retribution.
We have the freedom to speak peacefully but also the fear of being hauled away.
We have the freedom to earn money and understand that taxation was meant to help us all only to observe that it enhances a small percentage of those at the top of society while the majority of people do the best they can with what is left over.
We have the freedom to be who we are unless people in power label us otherwise.
We have the freedom to enter the country legally, do the hard work few wish to do and run the risk of deportation.

On Tyranny by Timothy Snyder
Twenty lessons from the twentieth century that speak to our current time. Snyder cites the histories of fascism, Nazism, and Communism to highlight the current dangers to American democracy and freedoms. At the start of each historical lesson, he recommends actions we can take now to protect our American liberties.
Why We Elect Narcissists and Sociopaths—And How We Can Stop! by Bill Eddy
Therapist, lawyer, and mediator Bill Eddy explains how narcissists and sociopaths think and operate and gain political power with only a minority of the population’s support. He then explains what we can do to stop them.
On Fascism by Matthew C. MacWilliams
As a recognized expert on authoritarianism, MacWilliams extracts twelve lessons from America’s history to point out the fragile nature of American democracy and the current authoritarian tactics being used to undermine our freedoms. He concludes the book with actions we can take to strengthen our democracy.
Civil Resistance: What Everyone Needs to Know by Erica Chenoweth
Recognized as a leading scholar of peace research, Chenoweth has produced a meticulously researched volume explaining what civil resistance is, how it works, and the reasons resistance fails and succeeds. She has researched movements throughout the world that have taken place from 1900 to 2019. This should be basic reading for all citizens concerned about the current state of our country and the world.
Things to cry about: The rank hypocrisy of the Supreme Court. No rules for Trump. Dismantle the Department of Education, but don’t you dare cancel a single student loan. Utter madness. If adults are ever back in charge, pack the court. Pack it like a Frontier Airlines carryon. Because they’re continue a project begun generations ago to fill the lower tiers of courts with truly despicable, and unqualified, judges. Seriously, your average Erie County Town Court judge has more experience than Whitney Hermandorfer. Ed. note: I will throw a chauvinistic insult here by saying Whitney sounds like the meanest mean girl in the sorority. Set aside her unconstitutional, hateful stances on, like, everything. 6 years as a lawyer. And:
never served as sole or chief counsel in any case, tried to a jury verdict; never served as sole or chief counsel in any case tried to a final judgment; never personally engaged in direct examinations in federal court; never personally engaged in cross-examinations in federal court; never taken depositions; and never defended depositions.
⛅ And now, a weather report: Via Don Paul in a Buffalo News article.
The National Weather Service was already understaffed at many local and regional centers before President Donald Trump began his second term. But through firings and buyouts, the understaffing has accelerated since January. The staff and management deficiencies were mapped out by the New York Times this weekend, posted on Facebook Saturday.
The Buffalo NWS office staff link shows a vacancy for its warning coordination meteorologist (WCM) position, as well as for three of its five lead meteorologists.
A big 👏 to: the Late Gene Sharp, a political scientist and all around sharp guy. Read or skim 198 Methods of Non-violent Political Action.
A big 🖕 to: The Patriot radio station. Airwaves are managed by the federal government for very good reasons. But that opens the radio marketplace to some exceptionally hateful content. As long as they don’t use swears I guess their hate-filled shows are ok? It’s AM 1270. Seriously, don’t tune to this section of the dial. If you thought WBEN content was gross…this is grosser. Roger Stone + David Dipietro + Ted Cruz. It’s He-Man Women Haters club, Ladies!
